  1. Ghsparent after reading all of thse policies and the information about your complaints SCBOE or GHS have not followed any of their own policies. I ask the members of the community what happens when they aren't following their own policies? Is their a State of TN office to report that to. This can't be the end for this family.

Maybe one of these people could answer "kuriouskat" surely there is someone at the state level that oversees the local education system. Because Lewis sure needs to have somone watching over his shoulder. Because he is breaking more laws than he is following.

  3. I have done research on teachers that bully, harass or assault students. What is so puzzling about your case is how the board can allow a director of schools to ignore policies that causes a student to suffer. This teacher is a walking time bomb for this school district which will end in a huge liability for your district. How many times are the folks that are suppose to be protecting these students going to turn their heads and look the other way? Eventually someone in this district is going to have to take the responsibility for everyone’s actions. Why would a school district want to employ a bully that has abused children? Is there a teacher shortage in Tennessee that you have to continue to employee bad teachers that make those that are good at their profession look bad?

I would start at the top and work my way down to make sure that this never happens to another family. Good luck, I will keep checking in.

  4. I would like to add that most people that have the untouchable syndrome do not change their ways they just learn how to hide it better by denying their actions and blaming the victim. These parents need to be very careful putting their child in her care. Based on past actions she has a fixation on making this child look bad in school and in the community. Her actions at the game as stated on here prove that she is still targeting this child. These parents need to limit her contact with their child and make sure it is monitored.

  5. tx blogger, what you have read on here is a bit toned down for some of the things that have done to and said about, and continues to be done to and said about, this child by this teacher/coach and her assistant. The mom who started this blog didn't give a lot of details about the slander, attack of morals, and verbal abuse this teacher inflicted on her daughter either. I have personally asked questions regarding all of the circumstances that brought this particular blog about. There aren't enough words to describe how disgusted I was by what I have heard directly from other cheerleaders that this teacher said about this child. Why the teacher or her assistant are still walking the halls of GHS is a complete mystery to me. She hasn't suffered any reprucussions for her actions and she knows she won't have any from the school system. She broke the law and school policies, but is still at the school. You asked if there is a shortage of teacher in our county. The answer is Yes. I don't know alot about the other schools in our county, but GHS has lost a lot of very GOOD teachers due to the actions of the GHS administration and the Smith County BOE. Most who have left that I have spoken with, did so because they were tired of the preferential treatment given to certain faculty and students, and just being tired of the way the school is run. There is way too much family and friends in GHS for it to be run effectively. They desperately need to clean house over here.

Note to the SCBOE members: a vast majority of people in this county are tired of how this school system is being run. There are several lawsuits that we, as taxpayers, are having to foot the bill to defend now because of the actions of the Director of Schools and the SCBOE. I have e-mailed my state representative regarding my opinion on the state of the school system in our county and my growing concern that something be done before the conditions deteriorate any further. I believe the position of Director of Schools should be voted on. We deserve to have a say in who is running our schools. Somewhere along the way we lost that right. We have to just take whoever the board puts in the position. If you have a problem, then hope you are going to be lucky enough that the director will allow you to speak directly to the board. It is at the point you have to jump through so many hoops to speak to the board, they have turned it into a circus. He insists that certain students and faculty follow policies, however, he can pick and chose which ones he wants to follow and which ones he wants to ignore. I know nothing can take away what this child has had to endure so far, however, hopefully she understands that her parents fought for her and fought for change. Little comfort now, but just maybe the school system will be better after the fight her parents have put up for her. They need to keep up this particular fight. They have the law and the actual school board policies on their side. They also have opened up a dialog that has allowed everyone to realize that they are not alone in their concern for the school system and they deserve to be commended for it.

  6. Does anyone know what happened to the GHS cheerleaders on Friday night only one girl showed up? If the FB & BB players have to go to games sick, tired or weather conditions why do the cheerleaders get to skip games? They left early on Thursday and were a no show on Friday. What is going on?

  7. enuffisenuff, according to the people at the game, both of the coaches left early on Thurs. night due to road conditions and then allowed the girls to not cheer the boys game (guess the bball players and their parents aren't as important as the cheer coaches). Neither coach went Fri. night and for some reason the cheerleaders did not have to cheer either. May be a point of if the coaches don't have to go, then neither do the girls. Funny, but the only girl to show up to cheer is the child in question on here. What makes these coaches any more special that they can leave games early due to road conditions when the players are still on the court? Wonder if Medley ok'd that one....

  8. Are games not mandatory or do they coaches choose which games to travel to or cheer at?

  9. My child in Jr High told me that the kids are waiting for this teacher to be taken out of school in handcuffs. Talk in the halls is these parents are not happy and plan to press charges. Of course this is rumor so I am not 100% sure but the kids are all talking about it.

  10. It is my understanding that the games are supposed to be mandatory. Kind of hard for the coaches to make the girls be there if they are chosing to not be there. No reason for that and it didn't happen under the old coach. Cheerleaders were at the games when she was the coach. This is unaccaptable behavior on the coach's part. The only person she can blame for the anger about the cheerleaders not cheering is herself. You would think she would be trying to watch offending other parents, but she seems to think she is "untouchable".

gjhsparent, I have heard the same thing from several jr high students. As bad as it is to say, if that is the course of action these parents have to take to get results, then the only person the coach has to blame is herself. Talk about an embarrassment for GHS. That would just top everything.
