Bloggers: I appreciate your support but I would like to ask all bloggers to please remember the privacy of other people’s children. We choose to put our child's life out for the public to read but only because she agreed in an effort to help make changes in our school system so no child will have to go through what she has.
While all school officals are public figures their children are not and they are off limits on my blog. I believe in freedom of speech but any reference directly to a school employee’s child or negative comments about any student will be deleted from my blog.
Again thank you for your support and I welcome all comments even the negatives one. Just don’t lose sight of the intentions of our blog.

A poll would be a great idea. Has any progress been made in the last week?
ReplyDeleteNo progress has been made the last week or months. It will stay that way due to time and lack of options. If they are not going to go to the legal system then things will continue to be limited to this website.
ReplyDeleteYou only have 64 more days to file charges! They are just waiting you out you need to file.
ReplyDeleteAll of the adults in this situation need to realize that while they are battling this out the child is suffering. Not the teacher but the child. It is so sad that as a school district we are allowing this to contnue. Is this teacher being protected because of tenure? If she is the grabbing and pushing alone without all the other stuff is just cause to say You're Fired!
ReplyDeleteIf it were me, I would just be furious to think that Lewis was sitting up there, not at all worried, his reddened face with furrowed brow, saying to himself, "they'll never go through with a suit..."
ReplyDeleteYeah, that would seal the deal for me and give me the extra push I would need.
63 days and counting. Don't let yourself down. Be firm in whatever you decide.
I pray this women does not get tenure. That would be a tragedy to all the students at GJHS. Mr. Lewis you need to talk to the junior high parents we would love to tell you what kind of teacher she is.
ReplyDeleteSince this coach thinks its ok to push and grab students in front of a gym full of fans you need to have her arrested in a gym full of fans. Wonder how that would make her feel? I hope about a big as this blog does. The coach I needs to do the right thing by admitting she was wrong and correcting the situation. These parents didn't ask for her job, I wonder if they feel the same way now on day 302. If this was my child she would never teach at any school again. Smith County wake up we can't afford another lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteWhat I have witnessed is this teacher focuses on a select group of girls saying things out of line to or about them. She has singled out several girls in Jr. High almost harassing them. Whenever a teacher goes into another teacher’s classroom to make rude comments to girls not even in her class crosses the line. I will be so thankful when my child is out of Jr. High so they will not have to deal with this teacher in the classroom or hallway. You have a lot of support in the community so don’t give up.
ReplyDeleteWere you there and witnessed the teacher grabbing your kid if so why didn't you do something then. If not how do you know your kid is telling the truth. Sounds like you have a personal problem with the teacher by trying to make her look bad on this blog. Why did you wait 9 months before you brought this up or started your big fight? I agree with some of the other people you need to let this go.
ReplyDeleteI would have marched directly to that teacher and informed her that if she ever laid another hand on my kid again, I WILL NOTIFY the proper authorities including Child Protective Services and the Police. Then I would inform the school board in writing and express my displeasure with thier choices of teachers. Good Luck and I hope things work out for your daughter.
ReplyDeleteGHS parent follow this link to find out what will happen to our children if she broke the rules but nothing on what if a teacher or principal breaks them. We need a policy to protect the students when they are bullied or a school employee commits battery against them. If there is a policy they need to post it. Why is Smith County one of the few schools that do not have school policies available online I thought I read somewhere we were paying for that? Can someone from the school board answer that?
ReplyDeletehttp://boe.smithcounty.com/Parents/student_code_of_conduct_grades_7.htm
Is there any updates on your fight?
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it is true or not, but I was told by a very unhappy GHS school employee yesterday morning after chruch that a very hush, hush meeting has taken place. From what I heard, this teacher is going to walk away without any punishment. She gets to keep walking the halls and bullying students just like we all knew she would. They threw the parents a bone and are expecting them to take it and this will all just disappear like everything else that has happened at this school. No change at all. Lewis, Medley, Fox and this teacher all get what they wanted. That's too bad. Hoping there would be some change before my grandchildren got out of GES.
ReplyDeleteWhat this teacher did was wrong. I don't think there are very many people who would disagree with that and the fact that the school system mishandled this from the beginning. All these parents have asked for is an apology for their daughter for the way she was treated and all that she has been through. As long as they get the best resolution for their child, nothing else matters. Due to the privacy laws we will never know exactly what was the decision was. As much as we would like to decide for these parents what punishment they should demand for their child, this is about what is best for her. Her life is the one that has been put on hold and her high school years are slipping away. The one thing we should all take from this is one major lesson: we can make a difference if we are willing to stand up for what is right. There have been several post on here regarding people who have issues with this particular teacher and her treatment of their children. Follow the lead of these parents and go to the school and voice you concerns. If that doesn't work, then go further. It all starts with just one voice, and as long as there are more and more speaking out, the noise becomes defeaning. That is how we will get changes our schools desperately need.
ReplyDeleteI heard last night at the scrimmage that the school has asked this young lady to return to cheerleading. There were no other details to the story other then she was coming back so the hush hush meeting did happen. I am sure only close friends and family will ever know all the facts in this situation but her return shows a victory for this family. This family has handled this well considering the circumstances it shows a lot of character that in a world full of lawsuits clogging up our legal system they close the path of fighting without taking away from our children, teachers and schools. I hope this teacher will think about the sadness she has caused this child and her family every time she sees this child in the halls of GHS or standing on the sidelines proudly representing her school. This child has the heart of a true GHS Tiger and we Tiger fans are looking forward to her return.
ReplyDeleteSo it is a victory for this child to come back to the squad. Am I the only person who thinks it is odd that a mom would want her child on a squad where the teacher is soooo abusive. I would not allow my child back on the squad. SO this makes me wonder if this story is true. Did this teacher act so horribly, or was this just an attempt to bully the school system into letting a child back on the squad after the PARENTS pulled her off, she was not kicked off. You can find that statement on this blog.
ReplyDeleteBy the school allowing this kid to return proves that the teacher, school and Director of Schools are admitting they were wrong in handling this. This fight has always been about what is in the best interest of the kid so yes this is a VICTORY. Read the blog the teacher did grab, push and target this kid it was written by people that witnessed this not just the parents. So please tell us what the PARENTS bullied the school into doing? Are you saying they are bad parents because they wanted the teacher to admit she was wrong instead of asking for her head?
ReplyDeleteGuess the princess’s spot was more important then the policies from the lack of response or updates by queen mom on here. Queen Mom did you sell out on the fight for your princesses spot back? Sounds like the same ol same ol - parents bullying schools to get their way. Bet all of you feel really stupid for supporting this family who are just commoners like the rest of us. No fight there!

ghsfan, is there some reason you feel the need to attack a child? you are continually attacking this minor and calling her a "princess" (and not as a compliment). for someone who is just following this blog either due to the issues at hand or because you are a ghs alumni, this seems to be awfully personal for you. is there some reason you are taking this so personally? are you perhaps either directly involved, or related to someone who is? and no, i don't feel stupid for supporting a parent who had the guts to stand up for their child. i would hope if in the future anything like this ever does happen to my child, i would have had the fortitude to do what they have done. i just hope this child gets to enjoy the rest of her high school time.
ReplyDeleteI would have great concern putting my child back under the supervision of this teacher. Please repond and tell how you can trust this woman to have authority over your child again.
ReplyDeleteGHS lost another cheerleader this week. What is going in?
ReplyDeleteghsfan-QUOTE"Guess the princess’s spot was more important then the policies from the lack of response or updates by queen mom on here. ReplyDeleteDr. Seuss said:
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind."
who left the squad this week?
ReplyDeleteYou know ghsfan, I enjoy finding cute Dr. Seuss quotes to insert, as a way of helping me not say things I might regret but still get my point across. Normally, this would make me feel better, and it did keep me from posting what I originally wanted to say to you, only I still have a little itch.
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE SO IGNORANT! You help make the Smith County School System look bad just by being a public idiot from that school.
There now, I feel better.
why is no one standing up for these kids? If this coach is the problem do you really want your kids under her supervision? do you really want her in charge of students? Surely someone cares enough to stand up for these students. Why aren't more parents demanding a change???
ReplyDeleteAgain if it is true that she is back on the squad. Then Lewis wins by sweeping it under the rug once more. And now other children will suffer because the teacher gets away free and clear. This is what lewis likes now the teacher owes him and the parents are quiet. He thinks he has control of all involved.
ReplyDeleteI know the name of the young lady who left the squad this week, but not the reason for it. Another girl has left, how can anyone question there is a problem with this teacher/coach?
ReplyDeleteLike someone asked earlier, ghsfan, are you directly involved with this situation or related to someone who is? You do seem to be taking this very personally and your attacks on this student are unacceptable and particularly viscous and personal. You seem to be taking a very childish joy in this student having had to go through all of this. YOU ARE AN ADULT, SHE IS NOT. ACT LIKE IT! Another thing, i will be surprised if this is over. Some of the cheerleaders were talking about a meeting that was held with them (minus the young lady who was just brought back) and i was surprised by what they were told as to why her parents pulled her in the first place. It will be interesting to see how her parents handle this. I don't see how there can ever be a suitable resolution for this young lady considering the people who are in charge. It is a disgrace her parents will have to spend their personal money just to get this resolved. I just hope everyone realizes this family has done something at ghs that, to my knowledge, no one has done in recent years. They stood up for what was right and have had to deal with people saying their daughter acted in an "inappropriate manner" (but the people saying that won't say what they saw her do at the game that was inappropriate) and calling her names and putting her down. She is a child. Her parents deserve respect for speaking out and should not have to deal with people talking about their child like this. It is a disgrace. If you have a problem with the parents have done, talk about that, but don't attack a child.
Checkmate ghsfan - If this teacher is the bully everyone has said this mom knows exactly what she is doing. By not demanding this teachers head she is keeping her right where everyone can watch her that knows the history of what is going on – Sorry Lewis you won’t be able to move her somewhere else to bully other kids and bury the situation. As for this child receiving anything further from this teacher I would guess to many will be watching for her to cross any lines. Kudos ghsparent!
ReplyDeleteYou know what they say keep your friends close but your enemies closer. I wouldn’t count this family out yet looks like a smart move.
ReplyDeleteYou people are crazy if you don't think this family sold out for a cheerleading spot. If this teacher was so terrible then why is queen mom fighting for the princess to cheer for her? I doubt this is a life changing activity like playing in a real sport. They are just cheerleaders get a grip. After high school no one will care if she cheered or not. Why don’t you get her involved in another activity that matters like church? Then both of you can learn forgiveness.
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know for a fact she returned or is this all rumors?
ReplyDeleteghsfan, why don't you tell some cheerleaders that what they are doing is not a real sport? Or do you have enough nerve to do that? I would love to see that! I can promise you, you will get an earful from them. Up until this year, those girls have had a two week break between the end of one year and the beginning of the next. They practice year round and cheer not only all football games, but both all boys and girls games. They raise all their own money and pay for all of their own stuff. They don't get any support from the school. They deserve some respect too. And you need to stop insulting this child! GROW UP!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous it has already been announced at school that she will cheer for basketball.
ReplyDeleteI never said they didn't work hard. We all know that being a cheerleader is not a life changing event it is just an activity. You must be close to queen mom to be defending the cheerleaders. Why aren't you standing against this teacher with your friend if she is so bad? Or maybe ghsparent is just making all this up and the other parents have distanced themselves from her. Maybe she just wants this teacher’s job. If she can do better tell her to go to school and get a degree. Speaking of CHILDISH what about this blog?
ReplyDelete"You people are crazy if you don't think this family sold out for a cheerleading spot. If this teacher was so terrible then why is queen mom fighting for the princess to cheer for her?"
ReplyDelete~You still don't get it! They don't cheer for 'her'! They cheer for their peers.
"I doubt this is a life changing activity like playing in a real sport."
~Actually, thanks to this situation this has been a life changing 'activity'!
"After high school no one will care if she cheered or not."
~It's not about whether you or anybody else cares what she did or didn't do in high school, it's about how she feels about it.
"Why don’t you get her involved in another activity that matters like church? Then both of you can learn forgiveness."
Yeah, we can all go to 'church' with you and learn how to respect others feelings and ideas, defend the weak, show compassion, and to keep our mouths shut when we don't agree with the masses (or the mass), blah, blah, blah!!!
Yeah, I'd be at that 'church' for sure. Be sure and give us that address! Blech! (that's me choking on your righteousness!)
ghsfan said...
ReplyDeleteQUOTE "I never said they didn't work hard."
~No, you said it wasn't a real sport, (one definition of sport-an active diversion requiring physical exertion and competition)
"We all know that being a cheerleader is not a life changing event it is just an activity."
~Also, an 'activity' is defined as any specific behavior, therefore, our 'life' IS an activity that we are ALL continually learning from. Please don't tell me you are suggesting that students don't learn from their 'extra' activities anything worth carrying forward in their lives, because then you would be saying that football, basketball, band, soccer, baseball, volleyball, and any I left off would be unnecessary parts of our educational system. A waste of time, money, and effort? Is that what you are saying? Do you even know what you are saying?
"Maybe she just wants this teacher’s job. If she can do better tell her to go to school and get a degree."
~Are you saying that such an "unimportant" task as coaching cheerleading requires a degree?
"Speaking of CHILDISH what about this blog?"
~Oh, but you just eat it up baby, you just keep coming back 'preachin' to us!
ghsfan, i don't have a daughter who cheers, however, i do often attend games, attend church with cheerleaders and have a cousin who has daughters who cheers in Texas(they take cheerleading as seriously as football there). for you to say it is just an activity shows your ignorance about what all these girls (and guys) have to put into cheering. why don't you go tell the kids who are on full ride college scholarships that it is just an activity? some of the guys are former football or basketball players and will tell you that cheering is just as hard if not harder that the sports they played in high school. better yet, watch one of the competitions on ESPN, oh, wait, isn't that a SPORTS channel? as far as this parent goes, why would you assume i am close to her just because i admire her for standing up for her child? if everyone who has supported her on this blog is close to her, she must have a very long Christmas card list. my personal belief is she is doing what is trying to do what is right for her daughter and that is where i stand. i chose to send my child to ges (even though i am from carthage) because i was told what a great school it was and have been extremely pleased with the elementary school. be assured, if this woman is still around, i will NEVER allow my child to have this womas as a teacher.
ReplyDeletebtw- you have never said if you were directly related to this teacher, or if perhaps you are this teacher/coach....
since my child started ges, my allegance is with gordonsville, but thanks for making me proud to be a schs grad, but like paws101 and jitterbug said - stop embarrassing the rest of the ghs grads with your person attacks and name calling of a child.
Jitterbug how much kool aid have you drank? Has anyone wondered why queen mom is fighting the system for her daughter to cheer for someone that she is trashing on the internet. Can someone explain exactly what queen mom wants? The princess is back so why keep trashing the teacher and ruining her reputation. I don’t know this teacher but she does not deserve this public bashing. All of this sounds a little crazy to the rest of us non kool aid drinkers.
ReplyDeleteghsfan why should quote "Queen Mom" stop at the cheer team? Maybe she should take over the school district, I am sure she couldn't mess it up any worse then it already is. Wait according to you she doesn't have a degree so she isn't smart enough to have say in our school district. Are you sure about the fact that she is uneducated because if so she looks to be doing a good job taking on the great and powerful Lewis & Crew?
ReplyDeleteGhsfan- Let me slow it down for you, cheerleaders....do... not....cheer....for....their....coach....they....cheer.... for...there....peers....
ReplyDeleteYou do realize that by calling me a "kool aid" drinker, that you are calling me a conformist and you are comparing me to people who died in a terrible tragedy. A tragedy that all began because of a corrupt religious system that allowed one control freak to tell the majority what to think.
ROFLMAO! I have been called a lot of things nasty things in my life, but conformist has NEVER been one of them. In fact my non conformity is usually what got me called those nasty names.
This family is also refusing to conform, and you are against her, so in your comparison you would actually the kool aid drinker. You better go mix you up some real quick before you actually grow an open mind!
I wasn't sure you understood what a 'kool aid drinker" was. You continue to awe me with your obvious ignorance.
Honestly, I am enjoying getting my kicks with you. Would you like me to stop now, or would that make you a "princess"?
jitterbug I'll mix the kool aid...lmao..Sounds like ghsfan needs some after he/she takes his foot out of their mouth. Talk about crazy...lol.
ReplyDeleteQUOTE"Talk about crazy...lol"
ReplyDeleteI was thinking sickening. Just remember ghsfan did invite us to church!
Better go iron my Sunday Best..lol.
ReplyDeletewhy would you allow this coach to be in a authority figure for you child if she did what everyone said? what could Lewis have promised you homecoming queen? a full scholarship ? Why would you want her in charge of your child again? She may not say anything to your childs face but you can bet plenty is being said behind closed doors about your child. They may not cross her but they won't respect her or you either.
ReplyDeleteThese parents have just been bought and paid for by the power lewis and his pals. Put her back on the squad, let the teacher off with nothing. Parents were used to shut them up. Put her on the squad who cares he would say it will shut up her parents and their time will run out and you can throw her off for another reason later. Yes Lewis has thought it out to bad the parents fell for it, he has been playing dirty ball for years. He is laughing at them right now.
ReplyDeleteanomyous I'm with you! Lewis wins and is just playing the parents. It wouldn't be the first time he has done something just like this. Then the coach ran the kid off , by making their life misserable. They parents just gave up and moved..
ReplyDeleteIs it true that the principal at NME was also a coach on this team? I guess Lewis though giving her a promotion and moving would help appease the parents. He should think, she is the worst thing that has very happened to NME. No one likes her and no one wants to be near her. Maybe instead of a promotion her should fire bad teahers?? Just a thought!!

ReplyDeleteComments from so many "anonymous" blend together and are hard to reply to.
Sorry, tired, "sign" in and "sign" up, not sing.
ReplyDeleteLewis will chalk this up as another win. He even pulled this when he was a principal to shut up parents. Then the kid would break a rule and be thrown off for another reason later. He would also make sure another teacher was there to whitness what happened. So the parents would know that he had tied their hands. This isn't new for Lewis he is experienced in covering his but.
ReplyDeleteanonymous, i you are correct. the nms principal was the coach for the ghs cheerleaders up until after football season last year. i remember all the talk at the basketball games had something to do with there not being enough seats on a bus going to an away game. the old coach told the cheerleaders is was ok for them to drive in their cars to clay co. some of the parents were mad about the bus and worried about the personal liability with them driving. girls turned around and came back home. she resigned after that. i asked one of the parents whose daughter was driving and she said her problem was with the old principal. he laid the blame on the cheerleaders for driving. big blowup, but those parents don't hold the old coach responsible. that is the story on that. i don't think her promotion has anything to do with what happened with those cheerleaders. parents didn't go after the coach there. they just wanted answers about why the school chose a bus that was too small and an apology from the old principal for placing the blame on the cheerleaders for doing what they were told, they didn't ask for anyones job. no confrontation with the old coach. sorry, but that is not why she got her new job
ReplyDeleteI still think this isn't over yet. I know this mom she isn't one to roll over and play silent. I think Lewis, Medley and Fox might have met their match on how to play the game. Let's not forget this family has witnesses to this teacher grabbing & pushing this girl including the assistant principal, assistant cheer coach, the retired principal, a gym full of FCS & GHS fans and the other cheerleading parents. The biggest on of their complaints is the slander which they also have witnesses to. Did you really think Lewis, Medley and all these people will lie under oath? I don’t think so; no one is going to put their career in jeopardy for this teacher. Rumor has it the cheerleading parents aren’t her biggest fans because of the way she has treated not only this girl but all the girls. So no support there either. I am very interested to see how this all plays out.
ReplyDeleteI find it appalling that you people are attacking a child on here. I doubt that Mr. Lewis has the power to make her homecoming queen or promise her full ride scholarships. Get real he is not as powerful as all of you are making him out to be. If this teacher is so bad why aren’t more GHS or GJHS parents calling the school and helping this family fight? Change happens in numbers so everyone needs to help this family to win this battle not bash them for wanting the best for their child.
ReplyDeleteIf any one actually thinks this family has been bought off, you really don't know them. Let's face it, if all you had to do to get a full ride scholarship for your child was to start a blog, don't you think parents would be starting them all the time? Not to mention, how would Lewis and his crew ever be able to give her a full ride? That comes from the college level, unless of course you think they are willing to pay for her college out of their own pockets. If that is the case, then I really think the parents won a major victory! This isn't over. These are not the type of parents to just roll over when thrown a bone.
ReplyDeletetiger parent said..."Not to mention, how would Lewis and his crew ever be able to give her a full ride? ReplyDeleteDitto!!!
By the way, good job on all the named posts, it was getting really hard to tell all those anonymous people, one from another!
It may come from the college, but the school can influence how the applications look. When you look at who gets the scholarships most times they are so and so kids. The teachers also submitt some of the names for scholarships. Lewis is an expert at pulling strings. He rules by fear and most of the teachers are terrified of him, because he always threatens their jobs.
ReplyDeleteit amazes me why if other girls have quit that no other parents are demanding a change. Why aren't they camping out at Lewis's office. Surely Fox cant expect that many kids to change schools. She is such a prize if that is her best advice for parents. With leaders like Fox and Lewis no wonder this system is in the mess it is in. When you hear what is going on in the schools in this county it is a disgrace to the entire county.
ReplyDeleteWhy aren't the parents going to the media? They have been shut out by Lewis, from following the proper chain of command. They need to take action and soon, Lewis will just wait them out and hope they fade away. This is what has worked for him in the past.
ReplyDeleteschsgrad, it is a well know fact that the school can influence who can get what scholarships. that has been a major bone of contention at ghs for years. anyone who has had a child graduate there within the last 10 years knows exactly how bad the scholarship situation is. from what i have heard it is mostly the guidance councelor who does the recommending and everyone knows how that went this past year (talk to some of the parents of the top ten students). there have been lots of complaints about it, but when you are forced to complain to the people who are actually making the scholarship decisions, nothing gets done.
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know of a way to get Lewis out of office? can the voters actually get a petition together to get him out? if so, I will be the first one to sign! if Lewis is out Fox goes too. anyone have any information on what can be done about this?
jitterbug, I am officially a fan. you have brought up some very entertaining points of view.
To go back to elected school directors it has to go thru the state legislator. So lets start on Weaver and see if she can do something to help Smith County. If anyone ever needed to go it is Lewis and he sure can take Fox with him. They are both a disgrace to the entire county and school system.

scparent, Most parents will not say anything because they are afraid the school will take it out on their kids. It happens everyday and this family is just a small example of it. There is so much under the rug in Gordonsville it would shock you. We need to clean house starting with Lewis and stop the NEPOTISM in our school district.
ReplyDeleteStop the nepotism great idea then our teachers and school support can do there jobs without fear. If that doesn't work there is always the kool aid idea...right ghsfan..lol.
ReplyDeletethis stuff has been going on for years on both sides of the river. The only way it will get better is to get rid of Lewis and his supervisors who only do what he tells them. If the parents who have witnesses and proof will ban together they can fight and win. Lewis does not have power over the judicial system we saw that when they didn't throw out the last lawsuit. If it gets bad enough with lawsuits maybe the board will buy him out like they did in Nashville. I bet they could have a fundraiser and get enough thru donations to get rid of him. Then the new director can clean house with all of these little girls Lewis appointed to do his bidding. He only put them in their positions because he knew he could order them around. They sure are good at following the Lewid let them follow him right out of the system. This system is in a awful mess because of Lewis and he needs to go worse than anything this county has ever seen.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you people think this is going to change? As stated by many of you this is how it is and always will be. Mr. Lewis has worked hard for our schools as principal and director give him some credit and stop bashing him. Same with Mr. Medley and Ms. Fox stop bashing them for doing their job just because you don't like the outcome of your little complaints. You should feel lucky your daughter is getting to go back at all. If you don't like it you can go to another school instead of going after hard working people that are just trying to do their jobs.
ReplyDeleteschsgrad, I didn't know it was as bad over there too. I am also an schs grad but made the mistake of sending my kids to gordonsville because the school bus that goes by my house goes to gordonsville. due to all this with this teacher we are sending our kids to carthage next year so they won't have to deal with this woman. is it really that bad there too? these parents are really putting themselves out there trying to do something about this teacher. any ideas on how we can help them out? maybe if we all get together, we can help make a difference.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else find it weird that if this is over why the blog is still up? I would be surprised if Lewis let the kid back without making the parents agree to delete the blog. Does anyone know for a fact she was allowed back or is that just a rumor? With the blog still up and the parents not responding looks like they are still fighting. Anyone agree?
ReplyDeletefarmer joe, she is back, and i do believe they are still fighting. i find it amusing that ghsfan thought this had gone away. ghsfan, Medley was good for ges, however, that does not mean that he has not mishandled his part in this and is continuing to mishandle it. fyi, from what i heard from a few watertown teachers, this teacher/coach tried leaving ghs, but they wouldn't have her. seems they are smarter than ghs is. and sorry you consider physical assult a "little complaint". what do you consider a major complaint?
ReplyDeleteNew Flash - Princess moves to SC!
ReplyDeleteNot sure why queen mom is trying so hard to get the teacher fired since she is moving the princess to SC. Now she can end her little blog and the teacher can get back to teaching. GHS will be glad they jumped to SC to become their problem.
ghsfan that is a lie these parents are not moving their child. Stop referring to this mom and child as "Queen Mom and Princess" it is immature. Several folks have been negative towards the family but you seem to be taking this personal and attacking them.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen such a mess!
ReplyDeleteThe key for everything to get better is to get rid of Lewis and Fox. There will always be problems but I can't believe they would let this get in such a mess. Getting rid of them may be the hard part but if the school board would step up and limit his authority (which they can do), he would probably resign before he would ever let others tell him what to do. The school board is the key that could make the "Almighty Lewis" fall.
I have always felt like Smith County was a wonderful place to be educated until I have dug in to how the system works. We have parents, students, and teachers unhappy. It is unbelievable how they take credit for "test scores" when it is the students and teachers that should get all the credit. If they were any type of administrators they would try to work out all of the problems in this county. Why not hold public meeting where parents could voice their concerns? Why not use the valuable resources you have in outstanding teachers instead of throwing money to venders for program after program?
Things have to change! It is up to the public to step up and let Lewis and Fox know WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH!
Thanks to this parent who has gotten the ball rolling!
You can do something the following is a resolution that will go in front of the county commission on Monday the 10th at their 7:00p.m. meeting held at the court house. START CALLING YOU COMMISIONERS AND TELL THEM THAT YOU WANT THEM TO VOTE YES. This will then be sent to the state. Then you can start on your state Rep. and Senators. After the resolution I have attached a list of the county commissioners I am sorry it doesn’t have phone numbers I got it off of the Chamber of Commerce website and had to correct some of the members had changed.
ReplyDeleteRESOLUTION
11-2008-08
TO URGE THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO ENACT LEGISLATION TO ALLOW COUNTIES THE OPTION TO SELECT A DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS BY ELECTION OR APPOINTMENT
WHEREAS, the director of schools holds a highly significant and important position in the communities in Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, the current law allows only for the selection of a person to fill this position by appointment by the local board of education: and
WHEREAS, in many counties, there is a desire for such position to be filled by election by the registered voters of the county;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Smith County, meeting in regular session on this 10th day of November, 2008, that the Tennessee General Assembly is strongly urged to pass legislation amending Title 49 as appropriate to allow county legislative bodies to choose the method of selection of the director of schools or, in the alternative, the General Assembly is urged to pass legislation to authorize a local referendum to determine for each county whether the director of schools should be appointed by the board of education or chosen by the voters of the county.
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, that the county clerk shall mail certified copies of this resolution to the members of the Tennessee General Assembly representing the people of Smith County.
Adopted this 10th day of November 2008.

ReplyDeletethanks commisioner glad to see someone is trying to do something!!
ReplyDeleteYou people are freaking hilarious. Arguing with each other online. What a hoot!
ReplyDeleteThe mom has said all along in her blog that all she wanted was an apology, nobody fired, and the child to returned to the squad. The child is back, so unless all of you were actually sitting in the meeting held by administration and the parents, none of you have any idea what went on. It would all be considered hearsay on your parts.
Oh, the cheerleader that left this week; it had nothing to do with the coach.
GHS parent, it looks as if your meeting went positively considering the outcome. Can you please take the professional action of deleting this blog so all these folks to which this does not even pertain to will quit arguing online so that you, your family, the principal, teacher, and their families can get on with their lives?
totally amazed
ReplyDeleteyou sound like you have inside info. or maybe Lewis has you ear? If you don't like what you read don't read. There are still numerous problems in this sytem that need fixing. Look at the number of lawsuits filed against the system. clearly this system is in serious trouble.
Totally amazed if the GHS, Mr. Lewis, Ms. Fox and the teacher had acted professionally ghsparent would not have had to start this blog. If the teacher and principal hadn’t made this child sit out then this family could already be living their lives. By it still being up I would say all isn’t as positive as you want us to believe. Since this deals with our public school system I believe it does pertain to all of us folks.
ReplyDeleteJust because the child is back doesn’t mean all is well, this should have never happened in the first place. Our schools should welcome all parent concerns. You seem to have the inside scoop please tell us why it took 10 months for this teacher to apologize to this child. If the child grabbed the teacher the child would have been expelled and charges brought against her. Why is the teacher getting no punishment in this situation? If there is not a policy against physical abuse by a teacher to a student we need to get one.
I have copied the part from commissioner I am sending it to everyone on my email list. Our commisioners need to hear from use that this position (director of schools) should be an elected office. Then if they are awful we only have to put up with them for 4 years not until they want to retire because they have the board members in their pocket. Because that is what we have been dealing with, I just hope the new members can get a hold on Lewis. He is causing to many problems.
ReplyDeleteAfter the way their kid was treated you are telling the parents to (QUOTE)"take the professional action".... That is freaking hilarious! Totally Amazed keep AMAZING us...Now that was a hoot...lol.
ReplyDeleteschsgrad I agree - ghsparent can you post this as a blog section on the front page. I think it is news worthy.
ReplyDeletetotally amazed you have no idea why this other girl left and I can assure you it had alot to do with this coach.
ReplyDeletetotally amazed, just because the child is back cheering doesn't mean this is resolved. it just means there are steps in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteIf this teacher is so horrible why would you let your kid cheer under her again? If you pulled your kid to protect her as stated why is she going back? Did you realize the school did there job and you weren't going to be able to bully them into firing an innocent teacher so you decided to fight for your kids return by bashing her on the internet? You ruined the reputation of a good teacher, principal and our director for a cheerleading spot?
ReplyDeleteThe director ruined his on reputation along time ago. The way he treats his employees is horrible. The only one who he treats with any respect are the one he hand picks to carry out his bidding. The teacher brought it on herslef when she assaulted this young girl. The only problem is that she hasn't been charged and she needs to before she does it again or worse to another child.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone heard how things are going? From what I heard from family back there this past weekend, Lewis, Medley and the crew thought all they had to do was put this girl back on the cheerleading squad and the parents would just fade into the background and all of this would just disappear. Seems they have underestimated these parents and the lengths they are willing to go to make all this right for their daughter. Kudos to them for not giving in and keep up the fight!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Lewis and his crew have more than just the problems with these parents to worry about. Because of what these parents have done, people are realizing that they don't have to put up with him and his "my way or the highway" line. He and Medley are both hanging themselves out on the line for this teacher and it makes no sense. It is a well known fact (at least if you know anyone in GJHS), she is probably THE most disliked teacher at GJHS by students, parents, and even the other teachers. Several parents have complained and been to the school about her, but they are refusing to do anything about her. How many different complaints by different parents do you need before you do something about this woman?? Both of you open your eyes before your taxpayers have to pay out any more money in attorney fees and possible settlements because you are trying to prove that you are going to do things your way whether it is right or wrong. Make her take responsibility for her actions and then take responsibility for yours. She was wrong in her treatment and physical abuse of this student, Medley (I know the sainted one) was wrong in his dealings with the parents, and Lewis was wrong in how he dealt with the problem once it came to his attention. I'm sure there are better uses for your school money other than defending this woman and the mess she has caused.
As a GHS alumni, I have waited over a month to voice my opinion, and I know I am going to get blasted because of the Medley remark. Get real, he was the coach of the football team when they won a championship, that doesn't make him perfect nor does it make everything he says and does correct. I went to GHS during that time so I also know this teacher, and no we didn't "hate" each other in school. I am a proud GHS grad, but I hate what has happened to my alma mater. Sad to say, but it makes me glad my kids aren't in SC school system at all. It seems to be a HUGE mess with no end in sight.
Ok ghsfan, blast away.......
Georgia: Well, I'm not ghsfan, but here you go. Yes, I am EXTREMELY offended with the Medley remark. He is "sainted" as you so rudely put it for good reason!!!! Reasons that have NOTHING to do with being the former coach of the football team. Those kids worship him. Trust me! I've seen him in action and it wasn't twenty years ago.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, I am glad you think he is "sainted", but having my children in a school system where football, going to the "right church", nor being related to the right people have anything to do with getting the position you deserve (heard his new son-in-law got assistant vice-principal), I have a honest respect for my kids teachers, principal, and vice-principals. Just like what I have heard said of Medley, they all know the kids by name and are well loved by all the students and parents. They don't go around getting their family member jobs (since when does GHS need TWO assistant principals?). If Medley were that great, wouldn't he have wanted what was best for this child? would he defend a teacher who had done and said what she had?
ReplyDeleteWell,I have an honest and well deserved respect for him! And it has nothing to do with his church, his friends, or who I am kin to.....Don't fit into any of those categories. Also, if the only good thing you can name about him is that he knows the kids names, you are not digging deep enough. It is amazing to me that someone (Lewis included) can devote their whole life to working with kids and be dogged like this for one supposed mistake. None of us know what has gone on. Never will. I just think it's disrespectful. It would not matter who was running the school or the county for that matter. Everyone would not be satisfied. That's just the truth. And whoever follows them will tick people off, too. Can't wait to read the blog about them. Who would be crazy enough to take the job with people acting like this anyway?
ReplyDeleteAre you saying that everyone should be ticked at this family for sharing the truth? Supposed mistake? There are witnesses including GHS employees maybe Lewis, Medley and crew should have done their job. Who is responsible for the blunder? Medley since he was the athletic director during and now principal or Mr. Armistead in who was principal and now athletic director. How can you retire but still be a teacher/athletic director?
ReplyDeleteOne supposed mistake???? That is freaking funny!!! You are kidding right...
ReplyDeleteWOW... I thought that if this went on for very long all the pent up anger at the ghs admin and the director of schools would come out, but i never thought it was this wide spread. this blog and what is going on is THE talk of absolutely everywhere in smith county and even beginning to spread to surrounding counties. the good part is people are beginning to realize that change can come about. the bad part is (if what i heard at the last home ghs game is true) this young lady is going to have to deal with a lot of humilation if what this teacher said about her starts making the rounds again. i have gone back through and reread all the comments and i know that some people know the particular rumor i am talking about and i know someone mentioned knowing for a fact it isn't true. i was heart broken for this girl. it is bad enough that you have to deal with other kids saying crap like this, but for a teacher to say it is just a shame.
ReplyDeletefor the anonymous who said medley is "sainted", how can you ever say that based on what has been allowed to happened to this young girl? i thought he was supposed to be all about the kids. even though the parents haven't demanded this teacher's job, as principal, he should have. as the athletic director at the time of the physical abuse, he should have been involved and helped get this resolved.
tigersfan was right in an earlier post, if this goes any more public all the problems that have been brewing at ghs will come out. i don't think it will merely be a black eye on the school, it will be a severe beating. wonder how many more good teachers ghs will lose? you can't expect them to stay around when there are all the problems at the school with no change in sight.
Concerned Parent, I know this family, they are strong and I believe it is more important for the truth to be told and things made right then anything else. The Mountain hidden under the rug at GHS is finally going to be uncovered. I feel bad that Medley is taking the heat for this since he wasn’t the principal when a lot of this happened. This was his first big step in being principal at GHS to prove things were going to be different. What a MESS! I do agree GHS needs change and badly before we lose good teachers.
ReplyDeleteStop whining. The princess is back on the squad you won. Get a life I doubt this little blog is the talk of the town. Mr. Medley is a icon in our town and deserves your respect for what he has done for GES and now GHS. He has taught discipline both on and off the field and in the classrooms. So you don’t agree with how he handled the princess GET OVER IT and stop attacking this man’s character. He did what he thought was right accept it and move on already. Someone needs to help these parents understand that they are embarrassing their kid in public for what some greater cause?
ReplyDeleteJust because we respect him doesn't mean he wasn't wrong.
ReplyDeleteghsfan~ Why is it when you say something it must be true, yet when others speak you say they are whining?
ReplyDeleteHow do you ever smell the roses with all that s**t up your nose?
You are like a broken record, get over yourself and make some real comments that might be worthy of anyones thought or discussion.
As for Medley, I don't personally know him, I have no plans for getting to know him and I don't believe in "saints". However, for which ever one of you it was who thinks Medley is and "icon", guess what, you are correct.
Currently, he is being seen as the "icon" for everything that is going wrong in the school system, and no it's not about cheerleading. This situation was just the last straw, so to speak. His fault or not he is now in a public position with a real responsibility to do what is right.
Eeek! I was you ghsfan! You said Medley was an icon! You really do have s**t up your nose.
ReplyDelete"IT" was you, good god not "I" was you. You just put so much fun in my day!
ReplyDeletetaketwo, i agree the family has to be strong to have gone through all of this. the one thing i really hate is what this child is having to endure when she is the only true victim in all of this. The teacher, principal, ad, and director of schools are not victims in this, they are the abusers. Whether it be the actual physical or emotional abuse as done by the teacher, or the abuse of power that all the other fall into it. If there are not MAJOR changes at GHS, the school will continue to decline with no end in sight. No wonder it is so hard to get good teachers to replace the ones that have left. Who would want to come into this mess? Medley may have came into the middle of this as principal, but he was the ad through all this mess and the many, many before it that involved school athletes (anyone else remember the legal debacles that followed several member of the football team the past several years?)what an embarrassment! i never would have thought as ad Medley would have allowed any of that to continue - but that is another issue. there have to be major changes now. clear all the family out of the school. that is the best place to start. best of luck to the family and their daughter. hold your heads up, you are really doing some good here!
ReplyDeleteconcerned parent said... QUOTE "clear all the family out of the school. that is the best place to start."
ReplyDeleteNot just family, but those who got their jobs on the buddy system as well. Hate to say it, but if that happens I don't think there would be many teachers left on either side of the river!
jitterbug, maybe they should hang ghsparent's state championship sign under the football one. Wouldn't that be a hoot!! lol
ReplyDeletetigersfan, you read my mind!
