For The Record

This blog is about how our school administration handled the issues we brought to them. I have proof and witnesses to all of my allegations so I feel at the least a full investigation should be completed. I went through all of the proper channels starting with the teacher, principal, athletic director, Mrs. Fox and lastly Mr. Lewis. Our quest has lasted over 9 months with no resolve. The schools way to handle it was force our daughter to sit out a year stating she quit and not completing any investigation. The school district meet with us but to date has not done an investigation or resolved any of our complaints. My intentions are for the school to act according to school policy, I should not have to file a lawsuit to be heard. Our teachers, students and schools need money why would I want to sue only to take away from the under funded school system I already pay taxes for? A lawsuit would not correct the things I am fighting for.

Just because a parent questions something does not mean that they want to run things a lot of times it is because they want to know why. So many of us sign all of the papers our children bring home with out reading them or really knowing the meaning of what the consequences are. After what we have had to go through I will never just sign something or agree to something until I ask the school questions first to make sure I fully understand.

I don’t believe my children are perfect, I understand that schools need rules and children need to be reprimanded. I will stand up to something if I disagree and fight for what I believe is right. This will be our third child to graduate from GHS and we are proud to be Tiger parents. My son played football, our oldest daughter cheered for 6 years and our youngest daughter cheered for 4; I have never questioned any coaches’ authority. I do not want to take over anyone’s job or functions at the school. I do like to be involved in all our children’s activities and school by helping or volunteering my time. If that makes me a bad person then so be it but our children only grow up once, I am not missing a minute.

I don’t have a problem with any of the rules I signed, handing over forms required, or our child following rules or guidelines. Yes our daughter was a cheerleader but I want to state this isn’t about this teachers coaching skills. My child has never had this coach as a teacher this isn’t about her classroom instruction. I have never questioned her coaching or how she coaches. Her grabbing & shoving my child wasn’t caused by a history of me questioning or overstepping her authority. She had just taken over the squad and I didn’t really know her. Until she laid hands on my child I didn’t have a problem with her. If it had stopped there maybe things could have been worked through but when things get progressively worse and your child starts suffering then things become personal.

We choose to pull our daughter from cheerleading until the school corrected the issues. I never requested this coach be fired or removed. We only wanted an apology to our daughter, the teacher not to make personal references about our daughter, not release private information to other squad members or their parents regarding her educational, medical or issues from private meetings, and for not just our daughter but the entire squad to be treated with the same respect that is demanded of them by this coach. We also wanted her reinstated to the cheerleading squad, since she did not quit we pulled her because of the issues we felt the school needed to address. As pointed out by this coach in a meeting the rule states if you quit after football you can’t come back but since the season had not started our child should have been able to return. After our meeting was concluded and we felt some of our issues had been resolved my husband left the school. The principal and teacher held another meeting in private where the decision was made for our daughter not to be able to return. We were made aware that the principal and school was going to override the rule and not allow our daughter to return at 9:30 PM that night. How do I know this meeting happened? The teacher told our daughter the next morning with kids in her class. The GHS administration overrode the rule and denied our child returning without an investigation into any of our complaints.

If our school system has laws, policies and rules that parents and students have to agree to and sign then everyone needs to follow them including all students, school personnel, administrators, district employees and board members. Several people have stated that because of the schools privacy laws the teacher, school administration or school district cannot defend themselves. If the privacy law hadn’t been broken then we wouldn’t have to defend our child, start a blog and put all of our private issues with the school out for all of the public to read in hopes someone will help us.

  1. You may not want to file suit, but that is the only way to evoke change. Mr. Lewis has been running things his way for to long. He will not listen and there is no other side up his. As for the supervisiors, they are hand pick to bow and do what they are told. When you look at the supervisiors and principals they are very young and very female. He chose them because he knew they would follow his orders and they do, no matter if it is right or wrong or against the law. We have new board members maybe they can help, but everyone needs to be at the meetings. These members are on the board to represent the people, not to carry out Lewis' wishes. The next meeting is next Tues. 21st make sure you are there. Watch how Lewis rules. The new members are stepping up and trying to work for the people, they are getting a very cold welcome. The old members need to be reminded who they represent and be held accountable.

  2. I agree with l8nitecaller what principal would call a parent at 9:30 at night and tell them they changed their mind after having this resolved? He should have went home put this behind him and been happy these parents didnt ask for his job. If this has been going on for 9 months you have two principals that were either principals or athletic directors during all of this. Which one is responsible?

  3. Have you called the news media or hired a lawyer?

  4. To me, this teacher has no excuse. There are many supports within the school that have failed to assist the family in handling their situations. She unfortunately took it upon herself, and acted immaturely and set a horrible example for her students and team. She should be fired and apoligize to the family.

  5. We were given no background as to previous behavior on the part of the student. Maybe this parent is the type that would not allow her child to serve detention or other consequences? It does happen.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I don’t support what the teacher did. But, I have to wonder if the indignation and calling for her head are in any way helpful or productive for our children.
Have you ever been humiliated by a boss? Coworker? Were you able to get them fired for it? I have been, and no, I couldn’t get them fired. Life is hard and people can be ugly. If we always turn around and “fire” the mean people in our children’s lives, how are we ever going to teach them how to deal with them when they’re grown up and those “mean people” are in charge of their paychecks??
We already have a generation of entitled children entering the work-force, let’s be careful to not make more.

  7. Does it really merit all this attention? I understand the parents are angry–they have a right to be. But do the police really need to be called? Do the parents have to alert the media? Why not just have the teacher sincerely apologize to the child, both privately and in front of the team then let her back? Why not use the moment to show the child that even grown-ups make big mistakes sometimes?

    ReplyDelete
  8. entitled, please tell me you are not suggesting that it is ok for a teacher to humiliate a student! how is that ever ok? should these parents teach their child it is ok for a person of authority to humiliate and physically grab and push a minor? If that is what you are saying, I pray you are not in any position of authority. That is just a disgrace all the way around and you should be ashamed for even suggesting it could be a lesson for her in learning how to deal with future employers. I agree we do have a generation that is coming into the workforce who feel entitled, and it is a concern. But should we teach them to be bullies instead? what is the difference there?

ghsfan, again, what could this child have done to justify this? Someone said they saw them acting in an inappropriate manner, but they won't say what they did. Funny, but no one else seems to have seen these inappropriate actions.

  9. Anonymous from what I have read a apology etc is all the parents asked for. The principal pushed it passed that when he changed the rules, Fox stirred to pot by suggesting they move and Lewis slammed the door in their face. They arent asking for world peace, just that the school treats their child fair, is that to much to ask of any school?

  10. If the student had done the same things to the teacher where would we be? The student still cheering and the teacher not coaching or teaching this is a sad situation.

    ReplyDelete
  11. If the student had done the same thing to the teacher she would have been punished. The teacher could also have had her charged for assault. Which is what these parents are going to have to do to get any justice for thier kid. The board will be happy to keep ignoring it, they have time on their side. She will graduate and then who cares if things are made right. The adminstration is winnig by the parents not taking action, because all they have to do is wait this kid out until she graduates.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I am sure these parents know they have 365 days. They might not be related to so in so in Smith County but they are in Wilson County.

  13. Do you think that having a teacher arrested is really going to change the system. GET REAL! This parent is doing the same thing she has accused the teacher of by even starting a blog. What a BULLY! She is ruining a good teachers reputation because her daughter is no longer a cheerleader. Boo hoo get over it isnt the end of the world!

    ReplyDelete
  14. ghsfan you must be part of the good ol boy system that runs our schools. What about the childs reputation or better yet all the good memories gone thanks to this teacher. Folks like you are why our school system is the way it is.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Board Members you are elected officals do your job this family needs your help. It is crazy they have to fight the very school system they pay for. Lewis & Fox need to be replaced or our schools will never change. Does GHS need a change if the new principal is already breaking policies and laws? Same ol same ol!

    ReplyDelete
  16. pull your kid from school. if you hate ghs so much that you feel the need to trash teachers, principals and administration go back to the private school you came from.

    ReplyDelete
  17. ghsfan, do you really think that these parents standing up for their daughter is bullying? you need to get real. what do you call what the teacher did? the only person who is responsible for this teacher's reputation being ruined is herself. she is the one who chose to grab and push this student. if the parents are forced to bring the police in, it is the teacher's own fault. she needs to take responsibilty for what she did and deal with the consequences. if this had been done to a child of hers, don't you think she would use every weapon available to her to stand up for her child? you know she would.

The school board members, Lewis, and the new principal are all being watched very carefully to see how they deal with this situation. It will let us know, as voters, if we chose the correct school board members to help look out for our schools. let's see if they will do what is right, or once again protect their own. ghs takes care of it's own, even at the expense of a young girl. we are teaching our kids some great lessons here and showing once again why ghs is a joke. don't you think the FC people will be at the game tomorrow night wondering if they will get another show out of the cheer coach? outside of this county, people are completely amazed that this teacher is still in the school system. then again, i think a lot of us are wondering that. so, school board members, Mr. Lewis and Mr. Medley, what are you going to do about this mess one of your teachers created? who gets represented, the abuser, or the abused?

    ReplyDelete
  18. anonymous, you are right. pull the kid from all of her friends, and any activities she has spent time involved in. she should suffer because of an out of line abusive teacher. makes perfect sense. after all, why should the teacher be punished? the child is the one who should have to suffer. why would ghs ever need to change? all the kids are treated fairly and equally right? do you know ANYTHING about this school anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm sure most of you know and many of you have experienced that you can not believe everything you read. Beware of how you get your information.

  20. Ghs fan your solution was already given to the family by Janice Fox. Her advice wasn't taken then and I am sure they aren't going to take it now. The fact this teacher grab these children has already been proven they have witnesses. The Director of Schools Roger Lewis, Janice Fox and the GHS Administration is protecting a teacher that broke several laws, why because she is one of their own. The school board needs to address this. Ghs Parent you need to go to the board meeting, you will not be able to address the board without being on the agenda, just being there could help with the change you are seeking. Keep up the fight no child should have to endure what yours has.

    ReplyDelete
  21. well it sure sounds like Lewis and his buddies have been on here. Why else would you blame a kid and attack the parents for wanting their child treated fairly. And of course we already know that Fox told them to move her to another school. What great advice from the supervisior, instead of doing their job and investigating, punish the child who was abused. Great advice from the leaders of the school system. The problem is they want to blamme a child when numerous people witnessed what happened. The Lewis and Fox have time on there side and they aren't going to do anything, but ignore and hope it fades away. That is their pattern, it didnn't work with the last court case. Hopefully it won't work with Mrs. Hacketts case, but these parents need to take action. Lewis and Fox like to imagine that they control the world, but they are not above the law, no matter what they think. They force people to seek legal action, because of their refusal to obey the laws.

  22. What is sad is parents have to pay money out of their pocket to fight the schools they pay taxes for just to enforce the policies the school passed. Mr. Lewis, Ms. Fox and the GHS administration broke the policies but is anything coming out of their pockets? What if a percentage of their checks went to pay back parents, I wonder if we would have fewer lawsuits. Hmmmm Good Idea!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Keep fighting ghs parent! You are doing the right thing!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am grateful that I didn't have a parent like ghsfan when I was in school! Hmmmm - if they have a child in GHS everything must go their way - what do you all think? EXACTLY!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I still don't understand why the director of schools, the GHS administration, and the teacher involved won't just meet with these parents and get this resolved. What are they afraid of? Everyone is losing faith in the new principal, Lewis, Fox and even the school board members. If they are reading this, DO YOUR JOB! Get this resolved before these parents are forced to sue the school system to get any type of resolution that doesn't punish their child. And out of curiosity, will the school system have to provide an attorney for this teacher? She is the one who broke school board policy (I am assuming there is a policy that doesn't allow a teacher to assault students)and most importantly the law. I support and admire our teachers. They have very difficult jobs, but last time I checked, this is the only one who has grabbed and pushed any students. I just wonder what the school board policy is if the student did that to the teacher? Don't you think this student would have gotten expelled 365 days and charges pressed? You know she would have and Lewis, Medley and board members would be indignant that a teacher would be treated that way. What is the difference? Never forget, this student is a minor and deserves protecting from such treatment. Can anyone reading this say they would be ok with their child being grabbed and shoved like this?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous I am curious to know this as well. Will the school system have to provide an attorney for this teacher? She is the one who broke school board policy (I am assuming there is a policy that doesn't allow a teacher to assault students) and most importantly the law.

That would be something if the school district provides the teacher an attorney when the parents have to fork out the money themselves. Something is wrong with that picture. Can someone give us some insight?

  27. There is so much about this whole, embarrassing ordeal that concerns me. What is the school administraion thinking? Are their priorities so skewed that they condone the behavior shown by this teacher/coach?

    ReplyDelete
  28. All of this has really gone to the extreme. If you do not like the policies REMOVE YOUR CHILD FROM GHS. It is that simple. You will never win this battle. And no I am not on the side of Lewis, I do believe he should be replaced. Nevertheless I believe that you are making a big deal out of everything because your "princess" did not get to cheer. BIG DEAL!!! This is high school not the end of the world and life. It is a small portion of life that you look back on and go "Wow high school is just drama." But in all fairness what did your daughter do and say for someone to "grab her" the way that you are making it out to be. Maybe if everyone(including your daughter) followed rules at GHS none of this would even be a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  29. For Anonymous-October 24, 2008 10:35 AM
Get a grip! So are you saying that every time someone becomes a little unhappy at school they should just up and move their entire family? Why do you think there are procedures in place for filing complaints and grievances?

This is about more than being "unhappy" with policy. It is now coming down to this girls civil right to be treated respectfully in a public setting, not to mention the public regaining control of OUR school board!

How dare you "princess" someone's daughter, what a jerk! Nobody needs to start whipping up on the girl here. Your acting a lot like the people we are trying to do something about.

  30. Forgot to comment on this little jewel! "But in all fairness what did your daughter do and say for someone to "grab her" the way that you are making it out to be. Maybe if everyone(including your daughter) followed rules at GHS none of this would even be a problem."

If you ever "grabbed" someone what do you think they would do to you?

And YES "follow the rules" that's all that's being asked here.

  31. Anonymous to a 16 year old girl this is a big deal. It makes me mad that anyone that has talked out against this family is trying to lower everything DRAMA. I was at this game neither one of these kids did anything. I know that is hard to believe but they did NOTHING. It appalls me how all of you justify this teacher grabbing a kid because oviously they did something wrong. The school did not punish this kid because she broke any rules. They CHANGED the rules so they could punish her. The family did not say they did not like the polices they just want Lewis and supervisors to follow them. So the advice you are giving them is Lewis’s group will never follow the policies they wrote so pull your kid out of school and uproot your family to move somewhere else if you don’t like it. Ummm....

    ReplyDelete
  32. "Princess"-lol. Do you know this kid? When this blog came out I figured out who this kid was trust me she is far from a pampered princess. All the people I have talked to have said nothing but good things about her. So if you are saying she is a troublemaker and her parents are just fighting the system because she did some terrible act you are wrong. Be very careful calling an innocent kid a princess when you dont know them. It just makes you look bad.

  33. I find it funny how many people have put they pay the teachers salary... blah blah blah like you should have a say in every action they take. Well guess what, as tax payers you also pay for tenn care. do you tell these people when to go to the doctor. You also pay for food stamps. Do you make sure they are being conservative in spending? Teachers do not get paid enough to talked about and their reputation ruined on a website. It is not just this teacher. You are debating putting a website in use to discuss all of what is going on in our schools. What teacher will be next and is this what they do at your job? If you react in a negative way or do something wrong it is put on a website or is it dealt with behind closed doors. You may want to think about it. This teacher may have been dealth with just not in the eyes of the public and I find that very professional. And one more thing, if they live in Wilson County why are they going to Gordonsville and why would it be so hard to relocate? Get over it - to all of you. Let teachers do their job. They need your support not your critical judgements.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I do support teachers just not ones that grab students then break school policy. Think about this what if this parent grabbed this teachers kid at a game she would have had her head. You don't think it is a problem to have a teacher ruining the reputation of a kid in the halls of Gordonsville to students, parents and even other teachers? The problem is this wasn't dealt with unless you are saying the teacher continues to teach & coach and the kid sitting out 365 as being dealt with. I agree everyone needs to get over it - let the kid enjoy school by letting her return.

    ReplyDelete
  35. To anonymous - I think it is fair to say that most all parents would make a big deal out of their child being grabbed and shoved by a teacher under any circumstances. What makes this worse is that this child did not do anything wrong. There has only been one or two people say they saw any of the cheerleaders acting in an inappropriate manner that night, however, when asked they will not say what they "supposedly" saw. Everyone else that witnessed this incident all say this child didn't do anything wrong. The fact is this child should never have been grabbed in the first place. Considering the fact that this teacher has not had a problem disclosing personal information regarding this child to other students, parents and teachers, do you really believe she wouldn't have told anyone who would listen if this child had done something wrong? Then it comes back to the same question again, what could she have ever done to deserve being grabbed and shoved? This teacher has broken the privacy laws and school board policies several times, so why would she stop now?

Your remark calling this child a "princess" is both insulting and immature on your part. I am not sure how much you know about the amount of time, effort and dedication it takes to be a cheerleader. So yes, to them it is a big deal to not be out there cheering. She is not being punished because she broke school rules, she is being punished because her parents spoke out about their daughter being assaulted and her privacy violated. Why should this child have to leave her school when she did nothing wrong? Here is a better idea, why doesn't Fox or Lewis tell the teacher who assaulted and disclosed personal information about this student to leave the school? Why should the student continue to be punished? Is that fair? It would be easier for the family to just pretend this never happened and let this be dealt with like everything else that is wrong at GHS. Just sweep it under the massive GHS rug. Her parents are teaching her a tough lesson right now. Stand up for what is right. Now let's see if GHS, Lewis, Fox and the elected school board members will do the same.

    ReplyDelete
  36. If the teacher didnt do anything wrong we wouldnt be reading this website would we....

It doesnt say the family lives in WC they are from WC big difference. Instead of telling this family to relocate how bout the school district works to fix the problem...

    ReplyDelete
  37. No one is saying they want say in everything a teacher does just that they should treat our children with respect and dignity. Most teachers I am sure are appalled by this teachers actions. I agree with another poster that this family has no need to worry about her safety but since she is still in school I am sure they already feel that way. I just feel bad for the child in this situation she must be having a very hard time.

    ReplyDelete
  38. JUST APOLIGIZE & LET THE KID RETURN – END OF STORY!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Her parents pulled her off the team, correct? Just making sure because I think some people forget that. If so many people saw this it brings me back to the question - why did they not stand up for her instead of trashing her on this website? You say the teacher did something wrong. Did you see it or are you just jumping on the band wagon? One more question. Is this the only problem this child has had in school? Has she ever been not able to attend any school activity, function, etc? Has any other teacher or coach had problems with this student or family? I would place my bet on that being a yes. Poster child as you people call it or is this a reoccuring event?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hahaha... Lewis, Fox and GHS will never adddress the issue. They don't have to you are letting them get by with this by not filing suit or having the teacher arrested.

    ReplyDelete
  41. They pulled her until the school did something about this coach not because she wasn't getting her way. Reoccuring event give me a break. A TEACHER GRABBED A STUDENT - THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW!

    ReplyDelete
  42. So what if every teacher at GHS hates this parent or this child is the worse child in school that does not give a teacher the right to grab, shove or share private information about her.

You are doing the same thing the school is by trying to justify the child deserved it. Would you be saying the same thing if the child grabbed or shoved the teacher at a basketball game? Or what if the parents came out the stand and grabbed and shoved the teacher? Would that have been better?

While you might not agree with the parent starting this website the truth is this teaher acted wrong and the school is protecting her.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Shame on this mom for starting a website to call the actions of this teacher out. What was she thinking. She should have just stayed quiet. How dare she question the great and powerful Lewis, Fox and GHS. Maybe we should burn a big G in her yard to mark her as a troublemaker for all to see and despise.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Who cares if anyone agrees with her starting this website or not. Last time I checked it is still a free country. They have as much right to start a website as anyone else on here has in expressing their opinion.

And to the poster who commented on tenncare and food stamps- I personally do think I have right to say how it is spent if it's being wasted on people who abuse it or don't need it, but that's a different blog entirely. Whether you like it or not, the teachers are appointed by people who are supposed to be ELECTED officials, and they are paid to educated our children, with our hard earned tax dollars, so I think that's even more important that some illegal immigrant on welfare anyday!

No one is being hurt on this website, especially not that teacher, I don't even think her name has been mentioned. Any harm done to her character has been completely self inflicted. I hope that if nothing get done about this by the board that she reads these comments everyday until she finally does the right thing herself. Then she might finally show she has the true heart of a teacher.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think the teacher just wanted to show these girls who was boss by doing this. She just picked the wrong kids to grab. Are we to believe that both these girls and their parents are reoccurring problems for GHS? Remember there were two girls grabbed. If so why is only one of them sitting out?

    ReplyDelete
  46. quote- "What teacher will be next and is this what they do at your job? If you react in a negative way or do something wrong it is put on a website or is it dealt with behind closed doors."

They are "public" school teachers. This should be a public matter. Enough of this behind closed door crap!
Stop handling the teachers with kid gloves and start taking care of the kids!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Based on what she said her children have done that leaves only two coaches. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who they are. Why don't you call them to ask if these parents are nighmares that complain about everything or if thier kids are such delinquents the school is begging the family to move.

    ReplyDelete
  48. delinquents? Are you serious.. You crack me up. The only nightmare here is a teacher not being reprimanded , better yet fired, for her actions.

From what I hear this teacher was no picnic in her last teaching position either.

While you are checking out whether or not this family's kid is delinquent why don't you try finding our what spell it is this lady has over Medley and Lewis.

  52. parentofatiger, having spoken to several people who actually did witness the altercation, they have all said they assumed the principal would take action since he was the first one to get to the teacher and students. To quote them, "he flew out of the stands to get between the teacher and cheerleaders". Silly them, they thought he would do what was right!

It seems you are in the group trying to find a reason to justify what this teacher did. Trying to blame a minor for the mistake an adult made. This teacher, GHS administration, and Lewis each needs to take responsibilty for their part in this mess. It is wishful thinking if they believe this mess is going to just go away like all the rest have. Too many people are aware of what happened and are willing to stand up for what is right. Keep fighting! It is the only way change will ever come about.

    ReplyDelete
  53. My question has yet to be answered. Is this the first time this student has been in trouble? Has she been banned from cheerleader/school functions before? I do not think so. Ask around about that. Educate yourself before you sound like a dramatic idotic sweetheart.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I know this young lady very well; I can tell you she is not a problem child. She has been a school mascot, varsity cheerleader, class officer, and served on many clubs as both a member and officer. She shows animals around the state and has received the highest honors for the state. She is active in both church and community. She is polite, respectful and a joy to be around. No she has not ever been banned or removed from any school function, club or team. I have talked with her about all of this and I can tell you this has bothered her greatly. We live in a small town that loves to gossip and thrives on the misery of others. Of course since she has been forced to sit out the rumors as to why have devastated this child. So instead of wondering what this child could have done that was so terrible maybe we should be asking the teacher how she could act so terrible to this child.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Parentofatiger you are really trying to make this child look bad. There is nothing there or I am sure you would have told all of us. So tell us now is there some deep dark secret none of us know about this child that you have found out?

    ReplyDelete

  59. jitterbug- I sure the princess is human like the rest of us commoners and makes mistakes or even gets in trouble. You people crack me up do any of you even know anything about these people to be fighting their battle. Maybe they are not as innocent as they claim after all the school is standing firm with the ruling. Maybe Queen Mom and the Princess need to step down and realize they are commoners like the rest of us.

  62. lmao- paws101-these people kill me!
ghsfan- Oh your a commoner, and I thought you were one of those goody-goody people of Smith Co. who don't like it when "outsiders" stir up dust.

Get real- this is about the teacher's mistake not the students so stop trying to take the attention of the real trouble makers.

The only decision that has been made regarding this issue has been one that was made outside the context of the rules already in place. No one has bothered to even talk with anyone involved about making a decision on the real issue here.

Don't you get it yet, the real issue is being ignored, that's what all this blog is about.

  63. ghsfan, I have known this young lady since she moved here and started school at Gordonsville. I feel confident in saying she has never been banned from any school or cheerleading activity. I'm not saying she is perfect, but she sure is not the bratty "princess" some people are trying to portray her as being. Why would anyone attack a minor who was the victim in this? All that is doing is saying the child was asking to be treated in this manner. It seems, like the teacher, you have a problem with her mom, but you are taking it out on this child also. Did you have a daughter cheer with her daughter? Is that where this is coming from? Not to mention, the "decision" the school made did not follow their own policies. If they would just do that, I think this could be resolved soon. Truthfully, I don't think they will voluntarily do this because GHS and Lewis would have to admit they were wrong to begin with. I just believe the student deserves a fair resolution. How can there be a fair resolution when no one has spoken to the students involved nor any of the witnesses? This won't just go away and be forgotten. It is still the talk of Gordonsville, and with the exception of a hand full of people, everyone feels this child was mistreated and that mistreatment is still continuing. Do you feel it is fair to make a decision like this without ever speaking to the students involved? I don't.

  64. Several comments have been that these girls were acting out a game if that is true shouldn't the school made them quit in January. Why were they allowed to try out again? She was a member of the team for six months after the basketball game? Kinda of makes you think at least.

  65. Went to the game last night and talked to several people. It appears there is a lot more about this then what has been commented on. I commend this family for trying to handle it by the book just from what I heard I wouldn't have. If this was my kid that was being punished after all I heard I would be at that school until someone listened. She is lucky to still be walking the halls at GHS. I know this is hearsay but when you hear the same thing over and over from lots of people it kinda makes you think there must be something to it.

  66. Everyone is questioning the character of the child when we should be questioning the judgement & character of the coach.

  67. anonymous, I am guessing that you were told some of the things that this teacher said about this student. If that is the case, you now know why these parents are so outraged and you can understand why this family has become determined to get this made right. The physical grabbing and pushing aside, the attacks on this child's character and morals are completely unacceptable. I just wonder if the people who are defending this teacher knew what she had said would keep defending her? I would hope not. This teacher crossed so many lines it would take a map to keep up with them. I just hope the family keeps up the fight. Maybe at some point in time they will post on here exactly what this teacher said, but I think they are wanting to shield their child from those attacks as much as possible.

  68. enuffisenuff we should be questioning the judgment of our ghs principal, director of schools and supervisor of instruction for protecting a teacher instead of a student. ghsparent do not give up your story is getting out keep fighting for your daughter.
